Green Business

LA is on its way to becoming the greenest big city in the United States. The City is turning clean technology into a major economic engine while simultaneously helping with everyday operational choices that reduce your business' impact on the environment and lower operating costs. From cultivating the cleantech industry to its Clean Air Action Plan, Los Angeles is dedicated to assisting in the cleaning and greening of businesses all over town.

About the Clean Technology Sector in Los Angeles

  • Los Angeles has some of the most progressive environmental policies and initiatives in the nation, resulting in more than $1 billion of investment in cleantech programs such as sustainable development, renewable energy, and clean transportation. Over the next 10 years, L.A. will invest $10 billion in the City's cleantech industry. Click here to find out more about L.A.'s investment in a clean future.

Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator

  • At the heart of LA's initiatives to support the clean technology sector is the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI), which will accelerate development of cleantech start-ups by offering flexible office space, CEO coaching and mentoring, and access to a growing network of experts and capital. Click here to learn more about LACI and LA's cleantech future.

Metro Zero Emission/Super Low Emission Bus Pilot Program

  • As chair of the Los Angeles County Metro Board, Mayor Villaraigosa spearheaded a pilot program to procure up to 30 super-clean buses to test in Metro bus service in LA County. This program, currently receiving proposals, will demonstrate and validate technologies and products that may be available for procurement by MTA after 2015, when MTA plans to transition to the next generation of buses. Metro is already a national leader in clean technology buses, with a directly operated fleet 100% powered by natural gas. This pilot program will set the stage for bringing the transportation technologies--and jobs--of tomorrow to Los Angeles. To see the Request For Proposals (RFP), click here.
